Born in Melbourne, Pippa got involved in acting after finishing high school. She began studies at university in Animal Technology, before deciding to also study acting. Eventually, she gave up Animal Technology and went in search for some acting roles. After almost three years of auditioning, Pippa landed the role of Elle Robinson on hit Australian soap, Neighbours, which is where she is today.

Black made several small appearances in other Australian television shows before joining the Network Ten soap opera Neighbours in late 2005, playing her first major acting role of Lucinda “Elle” Robinson. Her role secured her a nomination for Most Popular New Female Talent at the 2006 Logie Awards.

Black appeared in an eye makeup advert for Australis Cosmetics. In it, she poses as a nurse who is so taken by the eye makeup being worn by a patient, that she rubs some onto her finger and tries it on herself.
